Rocket's ears raised at the sound of gnawing. His eyes moved from Fox to the sick vixen, and he was glad to find out that she was eating. Something he remembered from the time his daughter had caught the same illness was that it went worse with starvation. Any illness went worse with starvation, now that he thought about it.
He returned his stare on Fox. He seemed much younger than him, but in his eyes he could read burdens which made him look older than his age. Leading others wasn't easy. It took very capable foxes to handle leadership well. Heaven knows if ScarFace might have been capable of if he had just listened a bit more to what Rocket said.
"I'll understand it if you want to rest" said the grizzled fox plainly. "But I'd have a word with you in the next couple days. I want to know about the oath thing. How it worked, how you made it work. Predators and preys living under the same sky. If this worked between foxes and rabbits, it might as well work between foxes of different kinds. I'll be around here anyway. I don't plan to move anytime soon. Just in case..." he shrugged, then looked after the footsteps of the two blue foxes. He was sorely disappointed to see youngs of his own breed acting like dogs with rabies. This time he had been there to interfere, but what about next time? Brave and strong they could be but there would have been someone stronger, even Fox here could have trashed the younger of the two on three paws only. What a foolishness, he thought.
