I like the randomness of rolling, too. I especially like Conan's heroic method of d10+8. That way you have a 10% chance to have an 18 with each stat, instead of less than 1% (with standard 3d6).

The heroic method loses the bell curve that tends to average characters out. I like that. Who wants an average character? Point buy enforces the bell curve, I think.

I guess I just don't like average. I like extremes. Give me really high abilities or damage or really low. The average damage or stat leaves me cold.
