I think point buy is pointless. I could see doing it if it were for some kind of DND tournament or something, but not for general play. Sure you can buy just about any number, but characters aren't SUPPOSED to be the SAME. They're SUPPOSED to be DIFFERENT.

I dunno. I like the randomness of the rolling. I've created characters a couple of times with point buy (for tournaments) and it's hideously frustrating. I'd rather chance the rolls and maybe get some 9s or less than do point buy.

A tournament is the only way I can justify point buy. That way, every character has the same amount of points, but it's up to the creator which numbers are purchased. Plus, you know that no one is fudging rolls because you can 'check their math'.

I also prefer the other method of character creation that I don't know if we can talk about or not. :)
