Scott:

I am going to tell you this now because you need to hear this...

Mental illness should scare the shit out of you. Don't flirt with ideas that may help you: follow your better instincts. I watched a gruesome, seven-year long process where my best friend was destroyed by mental illness. I mean that he quite literally died from it! His mind was pulled apart piece by piece, and there was nothing I could to stop it. No one could stop it. He messed around with his medications, acted too late in some some cases, and paid with his life. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

I am still haunted to this day by some of what occurred. The price you can and will pay gets spread around to those you love and who love you. If you fear losing yourself to medications, consider the fact that you could lose yourself entirely to a condition that is treatable. The choice comes down to whether you wish to live whole with slightly dulled responses, or whether you want to slowly descend into insanity. As far as I am concerned, the choice is quite clear.

Be well, Scott. Do what is right for you.

Drake
