Hi guys, Tony Dixon very kindly pointed me this way as i was looking for some information on uilleann pipes or whistle tutors. Reading past posts on here it seems that's not going to happen, but it's lovely to see there's regular meetups you organise.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on good teaching books for learning the whistle and the uilleann pipes? i can learn these things on my own if i have good materials (i only got so far copying Boys Of The Lough CD's! Man, i have ruined those reels for life, lol) but there are quite a few books out there. I really want something comprehensive, with a tape to go with hopefully, to demonstrate how excercises are meant to sound.

I'd love to come along to a meetup at some point and just listen, if that's okay. The prospect of just turning up is fairly scary for me, but to get to listen to that kind of music i think i can summon the courage! :P
So while i'm at it, is anyone based in Exmouth that i might be able to share a lift someday?

Oh, and perhaps a small pointer as to how much i might be having to pay for a set of uilleann pipes? i have a saxophone to sell, so i'm hoping that will cover the cost, but i've realised i have no clue how much the pipes are.

Thanks all, and sorry for dumping a load of questions on you, i've been storing them up! :P

Camilla
