"Those are good questions," Keiko said to Dr. Morpheus, "and I'll answer those just as soon as I finish making this pie..."

In fact--as Keiko busied herself working the dough by hand, then rolling out the dough, then reducing a mixture of cherries, sugar and corn starch--it might not have seemed readily apparent that Keiko had any intention of answering Dr. Morpheus' questions. However, Keiko did eventually get around to addressing Dr. Morpheus' questions after putting the pie in the oven.

"The pie should be done soon," Keiko said with a bright smile--pausing to pour the doctor some fresh tea before finally sitting down beside him again.

"Anyway, to answer your question about how I got here, well...that was teleportation. I'm not sure how the process works exactly--whether I access a higher dimension somehow, or directly manipulate space-time in some quantum-mechanical way--but that kind of thing has been happening to me ever since I was a little girl.

"It used to be a lot more common; back when I was a little girl, my mom was always yelling at me not to pop in out of nowhere and surprise her. It stopped happening so much when I became a teenager, and it nearly stopped altogether when I became an adult, but there were still times when I would teleport some place spontaneously. Usually, it was because I was thinking of someone I liked, then--poof!--I'd appear there..."

Keiko blushed, glancing away from Dr. Morpheus with embarrassment.

"Gomen," she said; "I hardly know you. But I do feel drawn to you somehow; you seem like a nice man, and I have a sense I can trust you somehow...

"Gomen nasai; I know I'm being excessively familiar..."
