Sharp eyes look for the approach of anyone. No one. Good. It would make the mare’s stay easier if her presence was kept quiet.

Shadow-cast skull wags sadly, golden beams rippling upon sleek arch. "I know naught anythin' mi sister does anymore, miz Moonlight, yore ladyship. Think she'd be older by her behavior and rank and accomplishments. My few minutes of superiority are nothing." Why was he confiding in the aging mare? Perhaps she just had that motherly affect he needed. "Firelight is a only, and I'm her shadow."

Suddenly self-conscious, he tried to picture to the valley as she spoke of it. "Sounds like the land is nice this season. Never liked big herds meself, yoreship. Hard to keep track of everyone. The smaller, the closer... I know for a fact." A small ache to visit the valley was planted in his heart. Having not a denomination of Dark, Light, or Neutral was often difficult. "Wot 'bout me mother? Is there... any word of 'er?" His accent was thick today. Often was with this kind of mood. Auds perked keenly for word of his mother or sister or even the Lady Kathryn. His mother seemed to have taken his father's absence hard. Praying, he hoped she was better. Perhaps he was overdue for a visit.
