"A charming sentiment," Tori murmured pensively. To not judge an individual by the company he kept was a concept that Lights, Rebels, and Neutrals alike could stand to learn. No one society was exempt from making generalizations about the others and Tori did not delude herself by believing that she was immune. Some equines could make claims of perfection but the golden mare was more of a realist ... She knew she had faults.

"Many of us were involved in the war, m'dear. My mate and oldest daughter were both fighters while I was sequestered in the healing ward as a healer. War is not known for breeding civil relations between conflicting sides." she countered. Why she felt compelled to divulge that bit of information would never be known. Perhaps Deja being polite and Dagger apologizing for his attitude had put the gilded vixen at ease. Yet another question with no conclusive answer. The world seemed full of them.

"Apology accepted," she answered smoothly. Forgive, forget, move on. Next topic.

Tufted thorns furrowed forward when the onyx hued mare began speaking her thoughts aloud. Some of what Deja said Tori agreed with. Deja seemed to put into words what the palomino had often thought silently. Perhaps one couldn't change the world, but one could shape one's own destiny. Such as her own predicament. Tori didn't believe that her presence here in Dark Evergreens would put a permanent end to the wars or battles for land. However, with the choice that she had made, she had bought the Lights a temporary respite, a time to heal before the next wave. That was her way of dealing with the situation.

"I get what you're trying to say," she began slowly, brain furiously processing what had been said. "There are some, the pessimists, who believe that this is as good as it gets. Nothing they say or do will change anything so they do nothing and complain that leaders aren't doing enough. The optimists on the other hand, believe that status quo is peachy keen but for a few adjustments." Pausing, she looked questioningly to Deja. "Did I get the gist of it?"
