If the Scots wish to be independent, that is their choice; however, if they wish to continue to prosper in a mighty and ancient union, then I'm glad to hear it.

As for the Nuclear Disarmament... what are you, insane? The World is full of terrorists and the main reason why the UK isn't part of the USSR is MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). I feel reassured that if anyone dares launch a nuclear strike against us, one of our (hopefully working) submarines will be able to fire an ICBM from the sea bed into orbit, which will then drop a hydrogen nuclear bomb or two onto the offending country, and that more importantly, the world knows that we have the power to do it.

Would the US have dropped a nuclear bomb on Japan if they the Japanese had a nuclear programme? I think not.

Hi G.Singh,

On the whole, Scots do not feel that way. The Scottish Socialists that you referred to are a small band of Marxists, who attracted an equally small crowd at the demonstration you cited.

They are well known in the Scottish Political scene as a bunch of crazy, ineffectual, Che Guevara clad and intellectually-challenged loudmouths. Like all loony-left organisations, they try to punch far beyond their weight, and they certainly do not represent mainstream political opinion in Scotland.

In fact, their ubiquitous rabble-rousing has left them with a serious financial crisis on their hands, thus demonstrating that their economics are hardly capable of running their party, let alone the country. They survive solely on the notorious celebrity of their leader, Tommy Sheridan.

In short, they are a fringe group to be ignored.
