Subject: 10 finger grip

Have any users of the One Iron System experimented with the 10 finger grip as part of using the 1/8" thicker grip?

I used a ten finger grip for a full season a number of years ago. I went back to a Vardon grip which produces increased distance and better ball striking consistency.

Bill: I have also tried the 10-finger grip and found the same thing as Mr.Lake - the Vardon grip works better. For me, ball striking improved, shots were more consistent, and the club just "feels better" in my hands. Just my 2-cents worth. R2

David, on your site you recommend 1/8" oversized grips. Do you recommend untapped grips like the Tacki Mac Unified grip? Have you ever tried the reverse taper Buster grips? Your comments would be appreciated.

Scott,

We have found that a slight taper under the right hand (right-handed golfer) aids tremendously in control/accuracy. Because of this we do not recommend a non-tapered grip and I, personally, do not like reverse taper grips at all.

Scott: I re-gripped one of my full sets of clubs (driver to putter) with the Enlow reverse-taper grips and played them for 20 full rounds to see if I liked them. I didn't enjoy playing them because the feel was very different and offered very little "user feedback". They were also quite heavy and changed both my swing speed and club dynamics. I much prefer 1/8" oversize standard-taper grips - they allow you to grip the club correctly and give you excellent club feedback. Take care, r2

Bill, interestingly enough I use the 10 finger grip for my 1Iron driver, but the Vardon grip for my 1Irons....I also use 1 inch back from center position for my 3-4 irons, middle position for my 5-7 irons and 1 inch forward from middle for my 8-wedges....I have to or I hook with my short irons and straight left to slice my low irons if I don't change my ball position 1 inch either way!!!
