I have been playing 1 Iron clubs and absolutely love them.As far as loft goes Google Gold smiths article on club lifts.Depending on the mcg there can be up to 8 degrees difference on say a 5 iron so when comparing you need to find out the loft so you're hitting the same loft not club number.hope this helps.
