I agree, there'll have to be a small gap after the qualifying round. Though whether you do div. 1 first or div.2 first makes no difference. You could even announce who has qualified for Div. 1 and then ask all remaining teams to take to the floor for Div. 2.

I suppose if you really wanted to do something in between you could have the demonstration at this point, but I think most people prefer to watch the demo once they've finished competing and can relax without having to worry about any more competing. With trophies, I don't think it would influence the judges, but i still like them to be given out at the end, so maybe it'll have to be the one point in the day where there is 5 minutes of social dancing...

There won't be any such problems with A/B finals, as the other divisions events will give ample time to sort those out. It's not hard to go from the 6/12 who qualified for the final to those who didn't... and i do think things should be run in the "correct" order...

PS as for entering the new numbers in the computer, I believe a lot of programs are happy to just take judges sheets and tell you the recalls, without ever having entered the numbers before. This certainly seems to have happened at IVDA this year, as I'm sure I found at least one case of a number being marked through that was not even in the event...
