As Gail says, getting the grooming right doesn't take a huge amount of initiative. Bath also used to do (& may still do) a grooming session before the first comp, as well as Oxford. It can be a good girly team building exercise, especially for beginners :)

And yes, scrunchies are a pet hate of mine. They look lovely on little girls, and that's where they should stay.
Along with anything fluffy. I also hate dodgy blue eyeshadow with white stripes. If you have to wear blue, and I have yet to hear any compelling argument for it, BLEND the stuff!!

I could go on.... ;P
