Don't shoot the messenger! The Cambridge captain has made a decision NOT to enter a Cambridge team, after consultation with the coaches, for whatever reason. Team members do NOT have the power to enter a team by themselves without the captain's permission, hence the few Cambridge students attending have to attempt to find a team we can amalgamate with ourselves, if we want to dance the team match. I agree it would be a great shame for us to be denied the oportunity to dance the team match. However; we have to respect the captain's decision, whether we believe it is the right decision or not. I would be more than willing to dance as part of a 3-couple Cambridge team and have one of our ballroom couples attempt latin, but the captain has to agree to it, and currently has not. The team members can therefore do little else but try and amalgamate if they want to dance the team match at warwick, hence why I had to make the request to see if any teams were lacking a couple. I had previously told the captain and coaches that we might amalgamate with another team. I also thought amalgamation would have the benefits of being more sociable, so that we got the opportunity to meet some non-Impoxbridge dancers!
