RED BLUFF — This
wasn't exactly the way Enterprise High School point guard Brody Angley
pictured his first game back after missing the first six games of the
season.
In his first action since pulling a hamstring late in the football
season, Angley scored 10 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished
out five assists, but the Hornets still fell to South Medford 87-54 on
Thursday in the first round of the 14th annual Red Bluff Holiday
Classic.
The Hornets (3-4) will play Helix of La Mesa today at 1 p.m. in the
consolation bracket, while South Medford will face Pleasant Valley,
which beat Helix 65-51 earlier in the day, in the semifinals at 5:30
p.m.
"It felt great to be out there," said Angley, who connected on his
first three shots, including a game-opening 3-pointer. "Instead of
watching, it was a lot better to be on the court."
With Angley in the starting lineup, Enterprise challenged the
Panthers — who are the second-ranked team in the state of Oregon in
class 4A — opening the game on a 7-0 run.
Angley, who played in spurts throughout the entire game to gain his
wind back and to prevent reinjuring his hamstring, opened the game with
a 3-pointer and, two minutes later, hit another jumper to give the
Hornets the early lead.

A field goal and safety is all that
separated Enterprise High School from Shasta. Whoops, wrong sport.
In a game where the scoring resembled a gridiron match, the Hornets boys
basketball team beat the Wolves 41-36 on Friday night in an Eastern Athletic
League contest at Shasta.
Hornet point guard Brody Angley scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down a
team-high 11 rebounds to help Enterprise pick up its 11th win of the season and
stay tied atop the EAL with Pleasant Valley at 3-0.
"It was kind of a rough game," said Angley. "We didn't play that well. No
excuses though. They played a good tight game, and you have to give them
credit."
Angley scored seven of the Hornets' first 11 points — connecting on three
straight field goals, a bank shot, layup and 3-pointer to help Enterprise (3-0
EAL, 11-4) start the game on an 11-2 run.
"Going into the game we thought
if we could keep Brody to 16 to 18 points and do the work on the rest of the
guys we would have a shot," (Shasta coach Joe) Franco said. "We did that, but
offensively we didn't play well."
