Subject: Dancers get discouraged by lots of different variables
In reply to: First post u14 WQ mom 's message, "Female roll models to inspire our girls?" on 20:04:27 12/30/23 Sat

Look, ID is an incredibly privileged sport. The playing field is anything but equitable to begin with. Top dancers are very often able to afford additional outside training, privates, etc. While hard work can sometimes surpass that, it remains that some dancers will always have an edge over others because of their financial means. So plenty of hard working dancers without those means will be looking at the podium, with the same ones on the box, and get discouraged and quit. Happens all the time. This isn’t some new phenomenon just because the dancer is trans, who has been beaten by females in competition anyway. The whole sport is entirely subjective. You can’t put your dancer’s feelings all in that one lane. It’s misguided and harmful to her and the other dancers.
