Ladies &overs is the same as it's always been.

Adults was created (to my understanding) as a safe space for older dancers that started later in life to compete without having to go up against dancers half their age. The competition is modeled after that U8 category in that Os and Nans are at teachers discretion, the dance a traditional set, they do not qualify for either, and cannot qualify for worlds.

Advanced Adults was created as the regular adult competition grew and more opportunities were offered. As ex-champ dancers decided to sit their 5 year ban and didn't want to stay in senior ladies, the ended up in the adult category. So a few regions and Nationals decided to divide those dancers out into their own category. This category is also at teachers discretion, does not have to qualify for Os and Nans, dances a modern set, cannot qualify for Worlds.
