Fuck Tupac, Fuck Nelly, Fuck Jay-Z, Fuck Eminem(except his first album and a few select tracks off his new one), Fuck Master P, Del is the smartest rhymer of all time. First off, if you knew anything about hip-hop (besides what you saw on MTV, VH1, or BET) you would know that there is something called an "underground scene", this "underground scene" is comprised of billions of hip-hop fans all around the world (this guy has obviously never heard of any of it because he lives under a rock). i would argue that del (aka "that fag from gorillaz"[he's not in gorillaz by the way]) has more fans than most rappers that you hear on MTV because he is part of hieroglyphics (possibly one of the biggest, most well-known underground hip-hop crews in the world). I agree that saying he has more fans than eminem would be (sadly) stupid of me, but, consider this, eminem used to flow about random stuff, stuff that YOU DON'T HEAR EVERY DAY. he used to be good (by good, i mean original, had his own formula), now he is (basically) a gangster rapper. Money doesn't make you suck, there are plenty of good mcs and groups out there that are really rich and don't suck (ie run dmc). The mcs which i named don't make rhymes like "this looks like a job for ME, so everybody just follow ME, everyone needs a little controver-SEE, cause it feels so empty with out ME" i'm not 100% sure if these lyrics are right, but i do know that he rhymes "ME" 3 times. ok ready i'm going to freestyle, now: "I am a guy whose name is Mark, when i shoot guns i land my Mark, i like to take long walks in the Park, that is who I am, I am Mark"...that is pretty much the same thing. Eminem can flow like a mother fucker, but his newer stuff is weak, all of the mcs i mentioned are intelligent, the rap about stuff you don't hear about everyday (ie. art, other music, culture, b-boying [you prob. don't know what that is, its not on TV], graffiti, etc.). They are not on TV all the time because the world is preoccupied with violence, money, and scantely clad women; this, however, does not make these other mcs better. Technically, people like ja-rule, eminem (recently), ca$h money, and others can't flow or rhyme off the tops of their heads like the mcs i listen to can. its a fact, i'm not making it up, its real! while i don't like many of the rappers i "dissed" i do give them credit for doing what they do...i just don't like them, and it is true that they can't rhyme as well as most other mcs...it has nothing to do with how rich they are. also, you toolbox, why do you refer to me as "mark" in quotations, unlike you i can show who i really am on a message board and am not afraid to slam people when they are being dicks (like i just did) while still letting them know who i am. That said, statistically, 14% of the world's population is christian. So what you're saying is that Del, the Funky Homosapien, has more than twice as many followers as Jesus Christ. Maybe its me, but I find this hard to believe. Now would you consider christianity to be "underground"? I know I would not. Therefore, it goes without saying that you have no idea what you are talking about. Your logic is flawed. Not to mention, claiming that I must live under a rock simply because of my lack of knowledge about something that is supposed to be "underground" would indicate that it is not very "underground" to begin with. [> Subject: Re: Del fucking rules like tha magic kiss Author: joel [ Edit | View ] Date Posted: 14:27:29 11/14/02 Thu first off i would like to apologize to the voice of reason for my inappropriate personal attacks on him. they were uncalled for and anyone who knows anything about debate should know that two major rules of it are not to get angry and not to resort to personal attacks, of which i did both. futhermore i would like to explain why del does not make millions of dollars like many other rappers do. he is not signed to a major label like those other rappers are. the major labels are a part of conglomerates that control pretty much everything in the media. i can't remember what all of the conglomerates are but a few are time-warner, disney, and i think microsoft is one. the same companies that own the major labels also own MTV, VH1, and pretty much all of the radio stations in the nation. what this means is that the kids hear what the major labels want them to hear, which is the million dollar rappers. so why has del not moved to a major? the answer is that del does not want to be on a major. he could easily be on one because of his many connections in the industry, like ice cube being his cousin. its not like there is any rivarly or hatred between the two of them; cube actually produced del's first record. i'm sure that he would hook him up if del wanted it to be. also, george clinton of funkadelic, parliament, and the p-funk all-stars produced del's second record. del also worked with the Gorillaz on a few songs off their album as many know and that was on a major label. so why doesn't del want to be on a major? no one really knows but i can make a few guesses. he probaly doesn't want to have people flocking to him on a daily basis for autographs and paparatazzi following him looking for photos. he just probaly wants to be able to go see concerts and stand in the crowd with everyone else. he just wants to live like a normal human and also rap. oh yeah another reason why del hasn't exploded as of yet is that his latest album Deltron 3030 was put out of print by del himself. the reason was that it was selling too well, it was too good any too libel to explode and del would be thrown into the nation's spotlight. personally, i am glad he hasn't gotten huge because i got to see him up close and personal at a small venue in chicago and let me tell you something, that guy can freestyle like nothing that i could have ever imagined. joel chalwick rm. 411 p.s. i thought it was pretty stupid how you decided to write a huge discourse on mark's obvious exzagerration of del's fan base. that was irrelevant to the original arguement. p.p.s. if you post a reply, why don't you use your real name? it is quite cowardly not to.
