Mmm, here we go.

I must concede up front I saw little of the tour for one reason and another and to some extent am relying on the vuews of correspondents and commentators added to what little I have seen. How much of the series did you watch by the way?

You make a point about Strauss's batting average but ignore the fact that in the subcontinent his average is 12 and choose not to address the point that he now seems to have difficulty with the full swinging ball, something I feel India have a couple of exponents of. Your argument seems to be based on historic and less relevant data and if it were followed to its logical conclusion the England top 5 would still include today Gooch, Gower , Lamb and Gatting.

I have seen almost universal praise for G Jones since the tour in respect of how hard he has worked and how much his keeping has improved. I think that there have been many opportunities to ditch Jones, now is not one of them. And remember that batting average has been maintained in a side and on a tour where everyone else has been under-performing when compared to their career average.

What exactly is the point of taking a spinner that you have no intention of playing? Craziness to not have a spinner in India as well you know. I repeat the last two times Giles has not played in a Test that double centuries have been made against England. I fully acknowledge he is not great, but I would rather have Giles than no spinner in India, something I think most sane people with an ounce of cricketing knowledge would agree with.

Now go and write your Santa letter and stop irritating me!
