I don't have time to fully address some of the staggeringly flawed arguments you put forth but I'll have a bash at the very worst!

You want to drop Strauss, the only player in the entire Ashes series to make two tons and the best English batsman on the previous away tour by some margin? A guy who averages over 45 in tests? Christ lets hope he doesn't go on a three game streak without runs or he'd necer play again.

Your G. Jones point is poor also. He only performed at his regular batting average in Pakistan, so has hardly "come to the party" in that regard and his hardly Knotty yet with the gloves. He would be dropped if England played six batsmen as Read batting limitations would thus be covered and his far superior keeping would see him picked.

I never said I wouldn't take a spinner to India, just that I wouldn't play one. The old chestnut of Giles containing isn't that great either, he's gone at three and a half in the last seven test, ie those in the second half of a dry English summer and Pakistan, cracking.
