Sorry to be a pain guys but. For the conference games I had R.Moss (4) T.Brown (10) R.Lewis (18) & S.Sharpe (30) active but you only gave me 42 points instead of 62. That would give me 379 points and put me in 5th o'all. Sorry to be a pain but we need a 49ers helmet in the top 5 :-)

all of you are astounded at the fact that the oaklahoma sooners won the national championship due to poor play by other teams and now there went the ravens going all the way to the super bowl before losing to the giants not because of decent play by themselves but because certain teams had bad days against them even though the ravens beat clearly superior teams.

Sigh... what is to become of me. I must have either been drunk or extraordinarally stupid the night of my picks. I JUST noticed three days ago my THREE Ravens players. I was hoping it would turn out to be moot with DA RAAAIIDDEERRS demolishing them... but no such luck. So... I find myself with the chance to finish in a legitimate spot, a cheater. I just want to know what action hiz nibs plan to take on this fantasy football blasphemy? I deserve whatever is brought down on me.

I am going with the New York Giants....not only did they impress me with yesterday's win....but I've been watching them for the last 4-5 weeks....and they have probably been on of the most underrated teams with very good talent all around. And...I don't mind watching Jason Sehorn out there either! :p But seriously....my pick goes with New York...I haven't seen the spread...but I'm guessing they will be the underdog? Regardless.....here's my selection! What's yours?

GO BIG BLUE! Knock those dirty boys from Maryland out!

I forgot that when you post a message, it automatically closes all gaps. My playoff bracket was readable when I was typing it, but it makes no sense on my last post.
I had:
1st round: DEN over BAL, IND over MIA, STL over NO and TB over PHI.
2nd round: DEN over OAK, IND over TEN, STL over NYG and MIN over TB.
3rd round: MIN over STL and IND over DEN
Super Bowl: MIN over IND.
Not even close!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm out after the UGLY game between the Giants and the Vikes.
I have to admit, I was way off on my playoff bracket. This is how I picked it before the wild card weekend:

DEN NO
DEN STL
BAL DEN STL STL
OAK NYG
IND vs. MIN
TEN MIN
MIA IND MIN TB
IND TB
IND PHI

I really don't have much interest in the the big game this year. It's probably going to be the lowest scoring Super Bowl in NFL history.
I predict: BAL 10 NYG 2
Good luck to all that are still alive for the last game! I look forward to playing again next year.

Well, I don't know about you, but I feel like Randy Moss really let me down this weekend against New Orleans. Sure he caught 2 TDs, but he dropped three and those were the only two balls he caught! I just hope that my prediction (which was made a couple of months ago) of the Vikings and Raiders Superbowl comes true because that will mean that I have four key players still alive to score points for me in this challenge. That will be the only hope I have in staying alive in this compitition. I think Shari and whoever else was involved had a great idea in having this compitition/challenge. It has made the season much more fun and exciting. I am happy that I was included and if nothing else at least maybe I will win the "typo challenge" and get that picture, huh!?! Oh, what a new year that would be!!!

Date Posted: 09:23:26 01/02/01 Tue

Here are my selections for the week.....last week was two out of four. I'm hoping to have 4/4 this coming weekend...is that possible in the playoffs? ;)

Lamar Smith and Miami at Gannon and Raider Nation

I'm taking Oakland because I believe that they are a more well-balanced team. I like Miami with Lamar Smith and Wanstadt as their leader....but I think Raider Nation will be too much for them to handle.

Oakland 24 Miami 17

The Lewis'-- Jamal and Ray with the mighty defense at Eddie George and the Titans

This is one game that I'm really looking forward to this week. Defensively these teams are pretty well matched in their own ways. I believe Baltimore has the edge on stopping the Rush...and Titans on passing. Overall they are very close in most catagories. This is too hard to call...but I'm going to pull for Baltimore as they have a good defense which scores points!

Baltimore 24 Tennessee 21

Saint's defense vs the Mighty Minnesota offense

What wins this game? I'm going with the tough Saint's defense here. It's going to be a battle because offensively Minnesota has the edge and defensively it's the Saints all the way. What a surprise Brooks has been as well...so confident out there!! Will the Saints smack Minnesota in their own house?

New Orleans 27 Minnesota 24

And...the last game of the weekend....I'm going with the GMen because unfortunately for Philly...they got pretty beat up taking that win against the Buccaneers. Pritchett, Johnson and Lewis all suffered injuries last weekend. Lewis is probably and Johnson is questionable. But isn't it McNabb who carries this team anyways!!! I would say that they're facing another team with a great defense and it's not in their own house this time. Philly has also faced the Giants twice in regular season with pretty marginal losses!!

New York GMen 28 Eagles 21

Alright....I know that some of you are going to disagree with my picks...but these are my first instinct selections....and I'm going with them!

ok I'm starting to think no one believes in the Giants yet. Since I don't pick any other games right why bother?
But I will say I think Good D beats good O. Given that, I'll pick the Ravens. Now as for the Giants' game...I hope John Fox has studied the tapes of Minnesota games. To beat the Vikes, you have to beat Moss and to beat Moss you have to double team him. You put Dave Thomas at 6'3 on him short and back him up with one of the hardest hitting d-backs in the league, Sam Garnes, deep. And ya stick Sehorn on Carter all game. If the Vikes are to win they'll have to do it with their 3rd and 4th string wideouts. Cuz we all know Smith and Culpepper will not be running anywhere this game. Final Score Giants 17 Vikes 10. Good luck to y'all who still have a chance to win this thing.

GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, what a weekend of football, huh? Thought the Titans had a good chance to make it to the Super Bowl, but ran into the the Ravens... Touch break... Anyways, I have carefully looked over everybody's remaining players and points, and came up with a list of people who have a chance to possibly take this thing!

I think there are 11 guys left to fight it out, with 4 at the top of the list. I am putting money on one of the following 4:
1.DeSautel- The dude has 176 points before Sunday, which is good for 13th, but he has 6 players left. Damn good job, I have to say.
2.Juceman- Has 200 points before Sunday, which put him 6th, and still has 4 guys left. Not too bad...
3.Guy- Guy and Juceman are pretty much even, both have 4 guys left, and Guy has 5 more points before Sunday...
4.Fish- You cant count out the leader after the 1st round, with 271 points and 4 guys to go...

The remaining 7 guys have a slim chance of taking the grand prize, but need miraculous games from all their remaining players. In no particular order:

5.Green Team- 200 points, 4 players left.
6.SlimDave-236 points, 3 players left.
7.Taylor- The guy is a psychic, what can I say? Only has 122 points, but has selected 7 out of the 10 players correctly so far. He is the man! Too little points for only 3 games to go, but with 7 players, has to have a chance...
8.Rettler-184 points, 4 players left.
9.Rusty_37083-216 points, 3 players left.
10.S.Hollis-190 points, 3 players left.
And the darkhorse of all remaining people has got to be none other than.... me... who else you think I am gonna pick for the Darkhorse, Shari?? hehe... Who cares if I only have 139 points with 4 guys to go!??! I have a chance, damn it!

But, seriously, this is one of the best fantasy sports games I have ever seen, and just think, it was put together by normal people, not big companies! Damn good job goes out to Shari and her co-partner in crime, Sean....

Peace out from Japan,
Man of Hoff

Wow!! What a game the Ravens had!! I said last week that it would be the Saints vs. Raiders or Ravens. Well scratch the saints. The champ will come from the R and R game but I think it's going to be the Ravens. They proved something against Tenn. They proved they have the best D, Special Teams, maybe not the best offense but they have what it takes. I pick the Ravens all the way. I'm in a win win situation though. I like both R's.

Well....I am 1/1 and my selections were first instinct picks. I thought that the Saints would put up more of a fight...but hey....looks like Minnesota's defense did show up afterall. It will be interesting to see how they do if the Giants win and they have to play outside of their dome. You know they have to be hoping that Philly wins!

How about them Raiders! Wow....what a game!!! Next week's playoff game whether it be the Ravens (hoping) or the Titans will be good match ups.

Look for the Superbowl to consist of the Saints vs. either the Raiders or Ravens. With the way the Ravens man-handled the Broncos yesterday I'm not sure their defense can be stopped. Wow what a game. The Raiders have a very well rounded O and D. Look for an interesting Division Series between those two.

Hi Everybody and happy New Year to all!
To me, the Super Bowl will take place Sunday afternoon when the Ravens and the Titans collide. This is going to be a classic, and the way the Ravens played against Denver, I'm not so sure the Titans will repeat as AFC Champs. I thought, three weeks ago, that Oakland was Super Bowl bound, but now I believe strongy the winner of the Titans-Ravens duel will win it all. Let's pick the Ravens, with a late field goal to win 16-14.
As far as Oakland is concerned, they shouldn't have any problem handling the Dolphins. I don't think they will beat them as easily as the Jaguars did last year, but the Raiders will win easily and cover the spread, which is 9 points, I believe. Raiders 28 Dolphins 17.
In the NFC, even though the Eagles lost twice to the Giants this year, they should give them a good match. I wonder, however, about their ground attack. The Giants will win 21-17.
New Orleans-Minnesota is a tough one to pick, because the Saints looked bad in the third quarter last saturday while the Vikings looked even worse, ever since their Monday night win in St. Louis. If defense wins football games, then the Saints will surprise the Vikings, 27-24. But no way the Vikings will cover the spread.

My weekly picks:

Oakland over Miami 24-14
Really I like both teams but Lamar Smith wont have the stamina left after last week and the passing game is non-existent...you just cant win with defense alone.

Tennesee over Baltimore 27-10
Ravens D is great but no one can stop Eddie George, meanwhile the Titans D will handle the Ravens offense

Giants over Eagles 30-17
I just cant pick the Eagles to win...EVER!! Stop McNabb and the rest will be easy. They couldnt go all the way with Randall by himself and they wont do it with McNabb either.

Vikings over Saints 23-7
I wish the Saints would win but they are too banged up on offense to score much against the Vikes and their defense cant hold down the fort all day like they did against the Rams who played below themselves.

Hello to all you gridiron junkies ! Let me hear your finalists for the Super Bowl. This may sound a little
wishy-washy, but my picks are as follows.............
I pick the Raiders to come out of the AFC, and if the Vikings can beat the Saints, I'll take my Purple Warriors
to get to the big dance. But if they lose to the Saints, I'll say it will be the Eagles and the Raiders.

Announcing the inaugural Typo Challenge.

By now you have received the newsletter from our beloved Commishette and marvelled at her superb grasp of the English language.
As she mentioned in her follow up email we have begun the Typo Challenge to tide us all over til the next games have begun.

The rules are simple...

1. Send an email to fantasy_sport_games@yahoo.com and list all the deliberate mistakes she so cleverly hid in her splendidly written email :)

2. Include in 20 words or less why you think you should be the proud recipient of the main prize ( well...only prize actually ) of a fully autographed photo of the nubile ninergirl in the bath :)

3. The winner will be announced on this coming Friday and no correspondence will be entered into and the judges decision is final.

Good luck to all and believe me - the photo is a doozy :)

Well, a whopping 0 for 4 last week! Let's see if I can redeem myself this week.

I'm going with the complete opposite of Shari.

I like TEN at home. Yes BAL defense looked exceptional against DEN Sunday. But it won't be enough this week.
Titans in a close one: 21-17.

All the hype about OAK will come to an end on their first game of the playoffs. I don't particularly care for MIA but look for their defense to hold off Gannon and company.
I like MIA in another close match: 27-24

NO looked good against STL, but we all know that the Rams didn't have a good enough team to go all the way this year. NO jumped out to a huge lead and STL almost pulled it off at the end. It'll be a different story this weekend when they travel to MIN and Dante connects with Moss and Carter all day long. Even if Culpepper doesn't last Brister will be sharp and carry MIN to a big win. I know MIN is known to flop when it counts, but it won't happen this time.
MIN wins big at home: 37-17

Probably the least exciting game of the weekend, in my opinion anyway will be Sundays NFC matchup. The team with the best record in the NFL this year will be watching the rest of the playoffs on TV after this weekend. PHI was unbelievable against the BUCS, (who were picked to be in the SB at home), by most professional analysts. The Giants wins this season were ugly for the most part. I don't think Barber or Toomer will put up any numbers worth talking about and Collins will start the game with an INT on the Giants first possesion.
I like PHI in this one: 27-17

Hopefully I will go 4 for 4 this week. I only have 4 players remaining after the gut wrenching week I had. I have Moss, Carter, Wycheck and Del Greco. I can't afford for MIN or TEN to lose.

Well I've babbled long enough. Let me know what you think.

GO TEXANS! I know it's a little soon but we cant wait to get Michael Vick (stay, boy, stay!)

Well it looks like Colts got knocked out, boo! And the Rams too. So much for MVP Marshall Faulk and his BIG game. This is the last time (and first) I ever pick Marshall for any fantasy league. He beats me in regular season, he disappoints me in playoffs. Sorry MVB (Most Valuable Bi-otch).

So it looks like the Ravens have used all their luck
Ravens 10 @ Titans 13

And the Vikes will snap their losing streak at 3 with Daunte having a big game
Saints 27 @ Vikings 38

Dolphins used all their energy against the Colts
Dolphins 17 @ Raiders 24

They really are the worst 12-4 team in history
Eagles 21 @ Giants 13

So those are my picks, and if you aint down with em, I got two words for ya!

SUCK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS- If you have any of those little mini football helmets that you get in front of the grocery store, I am in need of some. I need: Buffalo, Tennessee, Cleveland, Oakland, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Dallas, St. Louis, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Atlanta. Email me if you can help!

I would love to take all of the credit for this site....but I cannot. Sean aka Darkscream has put hours into this site as well. I'd like to thank him for all of his hard work...and putting up with me the pain in the you know what! haha We've made a great team in keeping this together! Excellent work Sean! ;) I'm going to get the placings in order so we can get them up today. So sorry for the delay....but I had to have some fun last night....while Sean spent a lot of time getting the scores posted!

Hoping that this New Year's Day of 01-01-01 is the start of something wonderful for you all. Wishing you nothing but the best!

Good Job!
Now for a little "smak attack"!
Who do think the Vikes want next week? Bucs or Saints?
They better want the Saints...
Now that we have that cleared up...
Ya' think the Bucs can win in "the Cold" at the Vet?
After last week...I hope so...we'll see!
All right I know you got it....so BRING IT! LOL

I think that anyone who is in this league and accesses this site must be naked when here or you can't play! The name can be changed to "The Naked Road to the Super Bowl", but that would have to be up to Ninergirl since it's her league.
So where's everyone from? I'm assuming that you're all from the U.S., no? I'm giving you all the big shout-out from Toronto, Canada, where it's pretty cold right now. I was thinking that maybe I can get a little leniency on the all-nude rule and be able to use 1 sock (!!!) where I see fit!?!?!

I do believe the favorite to win after the WILD, and I do mean Wild, Card has to be S.Hollis. The guy has only lost Warner and Marshall Faulk, and has made some very good choices overall. Very good job, so far... Also, congratulations to Andrew Law, because he has only lost one player, Mike Anderson, so far. Granted, he only chose 4 people out of the wild card games, but regardless, these wild cards were very hard to choose out of, as the teams that had the best fantasy players all lost this weekend. I think the tough break award has to go to KingCole86, who has lost every position player, except for his TE and Kicker... Something tells me he is going to come up a little short at the end, unless Chad Lewis scores 7 TD's and David Akers kicks about 5 70 yd FG's. Thats all from the Man of Hoff...

Makes no difference to me that Hakim dropped that ball at the end of the game. The Rams were asleep on the field until the 4th quarter, and it's just ridiculous to project that loss onto ANY one player. Warner's been overrated since last year, we all know that...just took this long for all the "cracks" to show up so clearly. The ONLY single player I ever feel sorry for is the lowly kicker...lowly only because THEY get "dumped on" for "losing" games (i.e., Vanderjagt) when in fact if the O & D are both clicking during the game, it should NEVER be left up to the kicker to win a game...nor should a kicker EVER be blamed for losing a game.

Thirdly I wanna thank Budweiser for putting me in a coma b4 halftime of that ugly Rams game...woohooo already lost Faulk, Holt, Manning and James. Daming myself for not taking Willie Jackson even though I had him on 2 of my fantasy teams this year. OK time to go drink myself into another coma...see y'all next year!

I already lost my QB's (Warner & Manning) and two of my three RB's (Faulk & James). Well, This has to be the shortest playoff league I've ever been in! I could still be alive, but I doubt it. If I am, I guess I'll just have fun with it!
Take care and good luck to everyone.
I'm curious to how many people picked MIA and NO to win today.
I say DEN and TB tomorrow to even out the home team and away team W-L for the weekend.

Yes my friends, the dream of a repeat is over. I have finally come-to after passing out after that nail-biter. My my my, what would Warner and the boys done if not for that last fumble?...What a great near-comeback! My hats off to the Saints for 3 quarters of great football (can't give them that 4th quarter though and that's why I feel that they will go down in Minnesota next week). As you can see, I have slightly modified my name considering todays events. Well, as Rams fans have been accustomed to saying for many years: "there is always next year"!! Yoo-hoo......ninergirl. Yup, it's true, I'm a tad CORNFUSED! I didn't see my "name" on the selections list, but noticed a listing for "Vikings". I remember putting that in as my "favorite team" -- but am left to assume that's my playing team name, right? I didn't see my actual name anywhere on the list. I kinda doubt I picked Janikowski (thought I had Grammatica), but don't much care either way on that pick. That was the only player that "threw me" in looking at the list...but I know I picked all the others on the VIKINGS team list. So is that me?

And, the final tallies are in... Thanks to me, the one who has no life, here are the combined totals of all votes in this awesome, and original, contest we have all signed up for. Here are the players who accumulated the most votes, by position:

QB- Warner (27.1%)
Gannon (19.63%)
RB- Faulk (27.73%)
George (25.86%)
James (14.64%)
WR- Moss (22.11%)
Harrison (16.82%)
T.Brown (9.65%)
TE- S.Sharpe (43.93%)
K- M.Stover (31.78%)

And, conversely, for all of who are curious, here are the people who finished on the bottom for each position... What were these people thinking?? Hopefully, they know something all of us dont know...
QB- T.Dilfer 1 vote
J.Fiedler 1 vote
A.Brooks 1 vote
RB- R.Williams 1 vote
P.Holmes 1 vote
WR- O.Gadsen 1 vote
J.Pathon 1 vote
C.Johnson 1 vote
Hilliard 1 vote
A.Rison 1 vote
And, the 2 that made absolutely no sense at all to me...
B.Davis (who?!?) 1 vote
K.Dyson, he of the season ending knee injury way back in September, 1 vote
TE- I do believe someone voted for SCOT Pollard, the center for the Sac Kings... hehe, something tells me he wont put up big numbers in this years playoffs, NBA or NFL...
One final note, out of all 107 of us playing this year, I thought it was pretty weird that not one of us selected all 10 of the top vote getters...
Anyways, just thought I would have a little fun with this, and good luck to everybody in the playoffs...
