Hi
I like your idea.
The series from about 6 or 7 years ago, based on the beginning of Sun Records, was very well done. Unfortunately it was cancelled after only 8 or 10 episodes.
If a creative writer or writing team was involved, a series with Holly at the centre, but also giving an overview of the societal changes that were beginning in the "rockin'50's"
would make for compelling television.
There are SO many entities creating content these days, it seems to me that as you say, if only the main roadblock was removed, (and in fact, since so much of the Holly persona and usage rights have been sold, perhaps that blockage is moot), a well written treatment would have a good chance of finding a backer.
It's a shame that the very conceptual "Buddy Holly is Alive ans Well and Living on Ganymede" was never produced.
So much of the success of any such movie or series would be
determined by casting, writing, directing, and most crucial, the mindset and sincerity of the producer/network.
I think we all agree that the true and most compelling
Buddy Holly saga has not yet been told.
