Your opinion actually makes more sense to me now, because I didn't know Holly had given his apartment tapes to Jacobs. For some reason, I've always believed MEH held onto the tapes until after his death, and then gave them to Jack Hansen. I didn't know Holly had booked more string sessions.

I agree Holly was one to hop on a trend. He went from bluegrass to rock 'n roll so he was no purist. I wonder, though, if he had lived to see the outrageous success of the British Invasion... if he would have been tempted to hop on that trend as well.

My basic opinion is that Holly would have joined Waylon and Willie and become an Outlaw. Again, this is just my opinion.

As far as Modern Jazz goes, in my old age I've been enjoying it more and more. Red Norvo, Charlie Parker, Ben Webster, Lester Young. I'm no expert, I just gravitate to sounds that appeal to me.
