I saw the movie, and I think it is pretty well done, depending upon one's expectations. There are many liberties taken with timelines - for example, they're in Graceland in 1956, apparently, and the early films are barely addressed, making it seem like his movie career began after the army. And I highly doubt Elvis was hanging out with BB King, Little Richard, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe on the same occasion.
It is visually stunning, and the music is mostly faithful to the Elvis tracks, despite the soundtrack album being heavily into rearranging covers and faux duets. Austin Roberts performance as Elvis is well-executed, and when they shoot from certain angles, especially in the 68 Comeback Special and some of the Vegas shows, if the microphone is placed just right to obscure his mouth, it's a pretty striking resemblance.
If you approach it as though you're going to see a play, where you couldn't possibly expect even 70% factual information, and instead treat it like a living painting - one artist's interpretation of the Elvis Presley story, you should find it entertaining. But if you're going for a biopic on the level of "Ray" or "Walk the Line," you'll be disappointed. I prefer this Col. Parker fever dream of a movie - it's too over-the-top to hold any accountability to historical facts. But it is a visual spectacle, and I'm glad I saw it. I will spring for the Director's Cut on blu-ray, when available.
