 One other item I meant to post: The film seemed to suggest Elvis was drafted to suppress his image as a deviant rock-n-roller. I realize his recruitment by several branches of the armed forces was not normal, but the director seemed to ignore that conscription into the armed forces was an ordinary occurrence for young men in 1957. (Elvis received a deferment to finish filming King Creole before going in March 1958.)

Again, the film is a lot of fantasy with an occasional sprinkling of facts. It's no biopic, and certainly does not resemble Bohemian Rhapsody in terms of a typical biopic narrative. But I still enjoyed it.
