Why would you do that?! It's funny you mention that because I am getting my oral surgery (3 extractions) and my braces put on at the same time, all on Sep 17. My ortho doesn't do general anethesia, which is what I wanted, so I am left with local anesthesia and an "Ativan" pill to take the edge off. But 5 months ago I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia and I am sold on it. The whole thing was a breeze and you don't remember any of it. I thought briefly about going somewhere else for the extractions, but in the end decided to tough it out. It's not the pain so much as the idea of someone tugging on my face that bothers me.

Yes, I'm 24 and I feel the same way. I've been hesitating and hesitating and now the date is set and quite frankly I just want to get the surgery over with, get them on, and get used to it. It's been kind of wierd these last few weeks, because I find myself in a rush to do things I figure I won't do when I have my braces, particularly to eat lots of the food that I read people talking about being difficult to eat. When I order a sub, I'm sure to ask for the day old, extra tough bread, just so I can knaw on it. :)
