Well I am off to college in March! I will take all six courses offered my Installers Institute in Florida. After I graduate from there I am planning on attending The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge. But, I will give my input anyway. I strongly disagree with your idea. I feel it would not be "SPL competitor like" to make competitors play music. SPL competition is based around the idea of competitors doing whatever it takes to create the absolute maximum amount of sound pressure they possibly can using car audio equipment. Forcing a competitor to play music for part of his score disables him to maximize his or her SPL score. Most "true SPL" vehicles are not all able to play music. They are designed for one frequency only. All thoe there are not many "SPL only" vehicles that attend your competitions, it does not disbar the point that competitors should be forced to take a score partly biased on their system's musical ability. If SPL competitors at the world finals were forced to play music, 90% of them would end up with blown amps and woofers. I think that if you want to incorporate music some how you should continue doing drive bys' and possibly incorporate a class similar to dB. Drag Racing’s "Bass Race". In Bass Race competitors must play music and the meter is set to "average" mode. The competitor must then try to maximize his average score over a period of thirty seconds. Or you could set the meter to peek hold mode and try to have a competitor maximize his peek score over a set amount of time.
