Subject: The mind of the Mondio judge

I use to think that the unscripted element in Mondio meant that there were random factors introduced into a given scenario. I now realize that this is not the case. The dog/handler team battles against the mind of the Mondio judge. He deliberately constructs scenarios that will systematically blow holes in your training or the temperament of your dog. The judge uses the decoys, accesories and field as tools to expose weakness. There is an infinite number of things that he can do.

The secret, therefore, to training is to think like a Mondio judge and construct training scenarios that a judge would create, rather than simply introduce random variations.

It also occured to me that a judge with 35 years experience like Jos is much more formidable than a green judge. As far as I can tell, no other sport is as dependent on the judge's creativity. The Mondio judge is like a chess master.
