Amen to both D. Smith and Darin Hadley's comments. One thing that makes a city work is the simple presence of people. If a person comes downtown, for example, and finds it deserted, chances are less likely that that person will come downtown again as soon as he or she would if they came and found the downtown buzzing with people. There's definitely something about the presence of other people that makes a place more exciting, more interesting, more fun.
So, one simple answer to the question "how can we make Ogden boom?" is "Get out there!" Come downtown. If you have the choice of going to restaurant or a business in Ogden or in a neighboring town, do it in Ogden. Go downtown just to take a look around, just to be there.
Even though the shops need people to buy things in order to stay in business, it's also o.k. to go downtown and just look in the shops. Some beautiful shops and restaurants are right there on 25th Street and in the downtown area. Come take a look, even if you're not buying at the moment. The presence of people will improve the ambience of the whole area.
Attend the events, go to the parks, just get out there.
That's a good -- and necessary -- first step to making Ogden the buzzing place it's meant to be.
