Well, lots of people have different interpretations of what it really means, but here's a general idea of what I think it means to most of us:
Goths are, essentially, fans of goth music. People who dress in black and go to clubs are attempting to show their pride for the music they listen to, plus a general feeling that it looks cool. Engaging in various activities, like dressing in black, going to goth clubs, dancing at the clubs, going to concerts, hanging out with other goths, etc. are all ways to show how into the scene someone is. Some people like the things more than others. That's a general idea. If you want some of the history reply again and I'll post more. This is all my point of view, though. Lots of people would disagree.
