WHEN DEATH COMES CALLING

Death comes
Through the back door
Like an unwelcome visitor
Unannounced...

It grips the nerves
And bends the will
With fear
Reminding us
Of our own mortality..

It takes
What is most precious
And rapes our frail bodies
Leaving behind
Only what lies around.

Death follows near
Like a shadow
That could strike at any
Precious moment...

Death has no soul
It comes in the night
Like a thief in sheep's clothing
Daunting you with surprises
It lingers on
Till it's satisfied.

I fear not death
But make it my companion
For death was born
On the day I was born
And comes to me when it's time.
