Caressing your sweet scented hair
My hand touching yours
One last time
Before I say goodbye.

It has been good between us
Our full and happy years together
Have been fruitful and fullfilling
I have no complaints.

We have shared our thoughts together
We have merged into one
Cared for each other's concerns
Sharing our hopes and dreams
Loved each other as no other can.

And now I have to say
Goodbye
I watch your face as you lay there
Eyes closed,heart beat growing dim.

Your long suffering
Almost coming to an end
And so has mine, standing there
Watching you suffer.

I could not bear to watch anymore
All is calm now
Believe me when I say
You are with me always.

You are a part of me
Whether here or the beyond
That place to which you will
Almost call home.

Promise to keep watch over me
From there among the stars
When my nights of grief and loss
Will come real soon
And I'll miss your tender warmth
In my empty bed.

I will not be alone
For I have you in my thoughts
In my prayers
And in my heart
And one day soon
I will depart as well
And join you
Where you are.
