I think/hope everyone agrees that the bus station needs to be improved.

So what should replace it? A new bus station you might say. But what is proposed (not quite sure exactly what current plans are) is a massive multi storey commercial development on the bus station site, which will include a bus station.

There are many pros and cons with this idea when you think about it i suppose. Benefits would be that it would be warm/dry and well lit. There would also probably be security provided by the people who own the property. Cons are that expansion would be difficult as it is a built in feature. Surely if anything a bigger station is needed. I fail to see how a reverse out bay style station would work with such a large volume of buses. maybe im wrong.

I think the main Con - points are to do with the site itself. Public land being used to build it, over - shadowing of the river gardens, pollution and congestion. Maybe it should be built somewhere else?

What are peoples thoughts/opinions?
