I'm really getting sick and tired of all this bashing of Americans. Apparently, this is one form of stereotyping that is still acceptable. Americans don't get sarcasm? Are you kidding? Yeah, New Yorkers sure are unfamiliar with sarcasm. In fact, we're famously unsarcastic, don't you know that? Along with the other things New Yorkers have a reputation for, like politeness, gentility, quietness, and pacivity. No sarcasm here, I assure you.
I would like to know how you can derive any generalization about Americans from a few encounters with some obviously not-too-bright bulbs. After all, there are only nearly 300 MILLION AMERICANS. In fact, the only countries with a larger population than America are China and India. And it is by far the most diverse population on earth. But yet you can still form a general description from a few people in Vegas? What's really pathetic is that you think Las Vegas sums up America, which truly reveals your monumental ignorance about the USA. Las Vegas has about as much in common with most of America as the Netherlands have with Albania.
Hey, I met a Brit once who was the whiniest, most self-centered twit I'd ever met. So, using your alleged logic, the British people are essentially a bunch of whiny self-centered twits. And, by extension, I guess so are Europeans.
Speaking of ignorance, just because the word "God" appears in the Pledge does not make it a prayer. A prayer is a supplication or praise of a deity. The Pledge is neither. It is, in case you have trouble understanding English, a decalration of allegiance to the United States, not God. The word "God" did not even appear in the original, which was written in 1896, I believe. It was added by a brain-addled Communist-fearing Congress 60 years later.
So much for your extensive knowledge of America.
As for Americans' knowledge of the rest of the world, let me put it this way. People in places like New Zealand, Taiwan, Liberia, Albania, etc. pay attention to America in the news because America has an impact on lives throughout the whole world. Why else would people like you even bother to criticize it? Like it or not, America is the most influential nation in the world, so people pay attention to it as they do to anything that impacts them. On the other hand, how many events in the places like i just listed have much of an impact in the lives of the average American? If you were an American, how important would you think the average news out of Dahomey was to your life?
I just want to know one thing. When does the board bashing Europeans go up? Oh, you're right. It would get out of hand quickly. After all, if one wished to criticize Europeans, where would you even begin?
Oops, sorry. I didn't mean to be sarcastic.
