As I read A Raisin In the Sun I found that many of my predictions came true. Never did I think Mama would be foolish enough to give Walter even Beneatha's money but as a mother I think she felt obligated to pass on control of the family to her son. Early on in the play Willy and Bobo were portrayed as not being trustworthy characters. So When Mama gave the money to Walter I new either Willy or Bobo would misuse the money. I never thought Ruth would go through with getting an abortion because Mama was so strongly against it. Essentially all of my predictions as I read the play came true.
What I took away from the play after reading it was that love is the only thing that can truly satisfy someone. I agree with this statement but have heard it many times before. I found the character Beneatha to be the most interesting because she seemed like a real person. The other characters seemed to be somewhat extreme in there personalities just to get the point of the play across.
I would probably not recommend this book to any of my peers. This play has many valuable lessons in. However many people have heard them so many times that it becomes redundant. I found the play entertaining but not interesting enough to recommend it to anyone else.
