Chapter Eight
Tinsy held up....The Abess of Redwall! She quickly dropped the mouse. "Oh, I'm sorry, Mother!" Swordling bounded up,
"And just why were you spying on us!? This was a secret meeting! For Dibbuns only!" Then Swordling backed up, "Oh, ummmmm....sorry, Missus Cornflower." Cornflower brushed herself off, looking ashamed. "I'm sorry Dibbuns. 'Twas very naughty of me to be eavesdropping. It won't happen again." She looked ashamed and then scuttled off to Cavern Hole.
"Weird," commented Eragona Treerose. All the Dibbuns nodded their heads in agreement.

Back in Cavern Hole, Cornflower related the incident to her fellow Elders. "And then I hurried off to tell you what had happened!" She exclaimed, quite out of breath. "Hurr hurr! Thart wuz gurtly funny, Muvver H'abbess!" chortled Foremole.
"Yiss, yiss!" cried the Recorder, a small watervole called Dewdrop. "That wis very funky, teehee!"
"Oh, 'twasn't!" Cornflower repremanded the lot," If it was you, you wouldn't be laughing so!"

In the orchard the Dibbuns were having another meeting about what to do with Elder spies.
The "cute little hedgehog, Tangle," was very upset. "Can you believe it! The H'abbess wassa spyin'! Onna us Dibbuns. Werra sposed to be da wunz spyin'!" Ember Fireheart, who was just as fiesty as Swordling, stood up from her seat on the ground, "Who's to say they won't do it again! The rotten Elders. They're invading our privacy! Soon, we'll prob'lly have to meet somewhere else! Like the attic!'' Loran, who was new to the DAB, exclaimed, "No, we wouldn't have meet'ins in the attic! We'd run off 'fore having meetings in the attic! It's'all cold an' dark and it makes me get gooseybumps!" Mossyra, the solid rock of good sense, said calmly,"Did you see how embarrased the Abbess was? She'll neva do that again!" Swordling agreed, "Yes, she won't. But maybe she'll send Foremole or Skipper to spy!" Everyone hoped that she wouldn't.
