Subject: A Proposal for Season 8 (All writers please READ!!)
I have a proposal for season eight, I know its time we should start writing and everyone is throwin around all these ideas. Okay, so look at this proposal which uses just about everyones ideas. Bare with me and here we go.
Begining of season:
-All of the Potentials have returned home with the knoweledge of being a slayer.
-Kennedy remains as well as Andrew. Kennedy and Willow are still together.
-Xander and Anya start to rekindle their relationship.
-Giles and Faith are in England rebuilding the council.
-Anya has used insurance money to re-open the magic box and has taken over the "knowledge role".
-Buffy, Willow, Kennedy, Dawn, Spike, and Andrew Continue to live in the summers home. Andrew works at the magic box to help pay for rent.
-Willow is back to slowly practicing magic without going all "veiny".
Begining to mid season:
-After some monsters of the week, Xander and Anya are fully a couple. Spike and Buffy are not, deciding its best if they dont.
-Giles calls Buffy and informs her of the "rogue" watchers that were traped in a time portal, one including his grandmother, a stone cold woman who had nothing to do with Giles. He informs the gang that somehow, Quinten survived the blast as well and that he and the watchers are on their way to Sunnydale. He and Faith will be on the next flight to Sunnydale, however due to a horrific storm, the next flight wont be until next week.
-Buffy hangs up and the gang gathers at the magic box, Buffy informs the gang and says "they are on their way". Quinten interrupts and states "we're already here".
-The watchers state that they want to catch up on what has happened. The gang lets them stay and informs them of whats happening, though the scoobys are very cautious.
-Drusilla returns out of no where and decides that she wants Spike back. She carries a spell with her that causes spike to lose his soul.
-Spike again goes evil, but his love for buffy is too great as she fights drusilla who almost kills buffy but spike kills Drusilla and Willow returns Spikes soul.
-Anya becomes pregnant with Xanders child. The two elope and do not tell the gang.
-Dawn begins feeling strange and realizes that she has some interesting powers as she can move objects with her mind.
-Andrew begins to be less and less annoying.
-D'Hoffryn returns and kidnapps Anya. She kills him and returns to the gang.
-Giles calls to inform Buffy that he and Faith are on their way on the next flight which leaves in ten minutes, they will be there in a few hours.
-The council disaproves of Buffys concern for Spike and for the fact that she allows many people to be in on her secret.
-The council informs Buffy that they want her to return to England with them and leave her life behind. When Buffy refuses the council begins to show their true face, when each begin to show a power. Though Quienton doesnt.
-Buffy tells the watchers to leave. When they do not, they tell buffy that they are going to kill her and summon the next slayer. Kennedy realizes that she is the next slayer. Kennedy informs the council that if they kill Buffy, she will refuse to slay, they inform her that they will kill her as well. Dawn flies into a fit of rampage which results in objects being throws around the room by Dawns mind.
-The gang realizes that dawn is channeling the "keys" powers.
Middle of Feb sweeps:
-Buffy and gang takes on the council who posess great powers. They ultimately kill Andrew in a fight. destroy the magic box and wound Kennedy badly. Willow has her back turned to the council when they wound Kennedy. Her hair turns black from behind. When she turns around she is "scary veiny Willow" she looks at the scoobs and winks her eye, she has control now. She looks at the council, and informs that she will not let this happen. she will kill them and quinten. Willow points at Kennedy is teleported to a hospital. Quinten smiles at willow. Laughs and snaps his fingers. the ground opens and the hellmouth demon grabs the gang and pulls them under.
-The last part of feb sweeps will take place in the hellmouth.
-The hellmouth is filled with horrid demons and ubervamps, including previous big bads that Buffy has killed. Including snake mayor, glory, adam, the master, and now drusilla.
-The gang finds out that Anya is preg.
-Buffy vows to get them all out alive.
-They find that the person who is keeper of the hellmouth is named "The Dark One" he alone can tell them how to get out of the hellmouth.
-The next couple of eps will deal with the prevoius big bads.
-Giles and Faith show up to the magic box, which is now cleaned and orderly. Quinten explains what he did. Kennedy shows up who is bandaged. Faith Giles and Kennedy battle the watchers council alone, Kennedy kills the watcher who wounded her, Faith kills the watcher of the First slayer and Giles kills his grandmother. The two left are Quinten and another watcher.
-The gang finally finds the Dark one who says that he will give the gang information only if the gang can defeat his minion, "The Bringer of Darkness". Buffy agrees to battle him. Willow accepts and says that she can battle him too.
-Buffy jumps in the battle, Willow turns all dark and veiny.
-They defeat the Bringer, the dark one says that the key is the only way back.
-He then strikes a lightening bolt through dawn who begins to bleed.
-Buffy kneels at Dawn. Dawn says she has a knoweledge now, she knows what she needs to do. Her eyes turn glowy green, and her body begins to glow. She chants, a portal opens. The gang jumps through.
-Buffy stays with Dawn. Dawn tells Buffy she loves her and that she needs to go. Dawny dies.
-Buffy jumps through the portal with Dawns Body.
-They return to the magic box where Quinten and the other slayer have fled to retreat.
-A funeral is held for Dawn.
End of Season
-Quienton returns as Anya enters her eigth month of pregnancy.
-Buffy with the help of the gang recouperates after Dawns death.
-The remaining watcher is killed
-Quienton morphs into a horrid demon, larger than the beast on Angel.
-We find that he founded the watchers council all those years ago, and has lived throughout the years because he is a demon. He wants Buffy to die so that he can take Kennedy and start the council over again.
-A huge battle ensues in episode 21. We think the battle is over, Quinten vanishes.
-Buffy receives a call in episode 22 that Faith and Kennedy are missing.
-Quinten kidnaps them.
-Anya goes into Labor. Xander and Anya go to the hospital.
-While at the magic box, Willow, Spike, Giles and Buffy are attacked by minions of Quintens. Spike is busy fighting them, Willow teleports Giles and Buffy to England where Quinten is.
-After a fight with Quienten, he gives Buffy a choice, FAith and Kennedy die, or Buffy gives up her power.
-Buffy chooses to give up her power.
-Quienton knocks Faith out so that she cannot fight.
-Willow and Spike show up as Quienton sucks the power out of Buffy.
-Willow chants "redirect" and the power goes into Kennedy. She is activated as the slayer, she and Willow kick his ass. Faith awakes and kicks Quinten back. Quinten falls back into Buffy who is holding a sword. he dies.
-Willow teleports the gang back to Sunnydale. Buffy says she is not sad that she isnt the slayer anymore. She decides that her and Giles will go Back to England to start the council over.
-Xander calls Buffy and tells her that they had a baby girl.
-When they come to the hospital Anya tells buffy she wants her to meet their daughter "Dawn.".
-Buffy and Giles leave, Kennedy and Faith take over as Slayers.
The End.
So guys, that wraps everyones ideas into one. Just a proposal if you like it say you do, if you dont write whats wrong with it. and throw your own ideas in for Kashy!

Please Read -- Mark, 20:06:41 02/18/03 Tue
Faithguy thank you for taking the time to write allt his but I just feel like it's way too son to start a season layout. I know there are people who haven't even been to this board yet who are writers, because they are away or not available yet or whatever. I think we really need to wait and work out all the ideas first before making a solid season layout. I think we need to talk more and discuss what we want to do before taking this huge step.

Not taking a huge step -- Faithsguy, 21:01:19 02/18/03 Tue
my idea in doing this was to show all of the ideas that have popped up so far. its a combo of ALL of the ideas. These will not fill 22 episodes, not in the least, I mean what I am doing is taking everyones ideas and combining them all into one so we can each have our ideas incorperated into the season. There is much room to add to. and much room for amending, I just did this to show everyone all of the ideas together.
Does that clear it up some?

great work, -- merrick981, 21:21:21 02/18/03 Tue
while I see how I would personally make some alterations, I love alot of those ideas you posted. it ties into alot of things everyone has brought up...kinda like a story board real life writers use to sort out ideas. We just need to make a collective decision,,,which could prove difficult without meeting in person,,,but we will pull it off. I'll post the changes I would make later today...when i have more time.

Thoughts -- Sgt. Rock, 22:16:54 02/18/03 Tue
My problem with having Giles' grandmother as evil is (while I havn't read pretty maids all in a row in some time), she didn't seem evil. It doesn't really make sense for her to suddenly become this bad guy figure. Also, depending on when she was frozen she would remember Spike's slayer killing rampage during WW2.
The key was created to open the doors between dimensions, why would she be able to go all jedi?
If Willow can restore the soul of any vampire, why doesn't she just restore the soul of all vampires?
The hellmouth is a portal to the dimension all the pure demons go, why would all the old BBs be there?
I just really don't like the idea of Quentin as a demon, it makes the whole thing about the slayer being a person, not a tool of the council less important because he isn't human, which is why it's such a big thing that he can treat someone that way.
Why would Dru try and take away Spike's soul? Even without a soul he spurned her. She's insane, not stupid.
How does Kennedy know she's going to be the new slayer?
Why would Anya call her kid Dawn? When was the last time we saw a Anya/Dawn conversation (I mean a proper one, not like when they were talking about doing stuff to Andrew)
There's too many bads in there:
The council as a whole
D'hoffren
The Dark One
The Bringer
All the previous big bads
The pure-demons in the hellmouth (Even with superpowers, I doubt Buffy would survive 10 minutes in the hellmouth)
DemonQuentin
It's too complex, I think the bad guys need to be pretty simple. We should just pick one idea rather than trying to combine them all. Try and make everyone happy, and no-one ends up happy.

About Drusilla and Anya being... -- FAithsguy, 22:33:58 02/18/03 Tue
You know I am not fond of the Drusilla taking spikes soul and Anya being preg. but someone suggested it, and this post was set to combine everyones ideas in one post so we dont have to keep looking at all of these different posts. And when I was writing it, I was like, where would Andrew live? then I was like okay I'll just put him in the house for now....Shouldnt the housing authority be there or something!?!?! lol

hehe -- Sgt. Rock, 22:39:33 02/18/03 Tue
I suggested Anya being pregnant, when someone else writes it, it sounds like a bad idea :)
If Andrew and all the SITs stay in the house, do you think Buffy's house could officially become a commune? It might help on the tax!
And hey! I just realised you didn't include my four horsemen idea.... although adding that into the list would just make it stupidly complicated

My thoughts on this -- imisstara, 22:30:19 02/18/03 Tue
Hey Faithsguy! This is really good. I read your origin post about The Dark One and felt it was too connected to The First, but this works well for me. I think you worked it really well. But haha now here are the things that I think should be changed:
I have to admit, I absolutely hate the idea of Anya being pregnant. I just can't see it at all. I don't think Anya and Xander should get back together I think she needs to move on.
I also think it would be pretty stupid to still have all those people live in the Summers' house. It's not your fault, I think it's stupid they all live there now on the show. I think it should buffy and Dawn and that's all.
I don't like the idea of Spike losing his soul and Willow restoring it, either. It's just way too been there, done that. Especially what's coming up on a certain spinoff..
I don't like the idea of returning to the whole Dawn-is-the-key plot. Also it's just retreading into past territory. I think that should all be taken out and Dawn should live and they should find another way out of the Hellmouth. But I like the idea of Andrew dying, as sick as that might be :)
I think the Hellmouth needs to close at the end and Faith and Kennedy should move on to another town.

Some interesting ideas -- Wyvern, 17:48:50 02/19/03 Wed
Wow... this is what the group's come up with already, and you've pulled it tegether into something pretty coherent! I'm impressed with what you've done, and there are some things that really fit in with my thinking, but some things that don't.
I want as many of the SiTs as possible out of there. Not because I dislike them, but there are just WAY too many characters knocking about right now. It's a potential nightmare to write, making sure everyone gets screen time and that the story doesn't overbalance in any given direction.
I don't see why the council should be rebuilt in England. Giles is English, but Faith isn't. When the council was formed, as someone emntioned in the Giles post, it is likely that the British Empire was huge and powerful, so its heart would be a suitable place to base a global organisation. These days we have been globalised not by might of Empire, but by commercial globalisation. The most recognised brands in the world are, I believe, Coca Cola and Mickey Mouse, with McDonalds not far behind. These days the one major global power is the USA. Also, I feel that the people with the greatest potential to form a proto-council are the people with knowledge and experience of dealing with the demons, vampires and other ooglie booglies... the Scoobies. I'm not saying they should all become watchers, but I certainly see the potential in Willow, and maybe even Kennedy as a SiT who has probably gone past the age where she's likely to be called but has the full experience of Slayer training and the discipline to pass it on. And there are people in the organisation who are not likely to be Watchers as such - researchers, field operatives etc., who have roles that may suit other characters we know and love... imagine Spike and Anya in consultative roles!
The Drusilla stuff sounds like fun and could potentially fii a LB arc quite nicely, and there is a precedent for Willow restoring vampires souls, so that could be concluded effectively - though it would be a nice twost if the only way she knew of to do it was to actually "curse" Spike with a soul because it's the only ritual of its type she knows of (and they would surely have looked when Angelus first re-emerged). So Spike is now stuck with the "moment of happiness" clause, rather unfairly under the circumstances, but dem's de breaks. Of course, if we later maybe have Spike doing the whole "noble sacrifice" thing, and maybe doing something along the lines of, I dunno, Shanshuing (I'm not in love with the idea, but I can see a great FX shot to achieve it *g*), it wouldn't be a problem.
I don't have a problem with the CoW as the BB - but I'm not sure they need to be demons. It would be more interesting if they were human and driven by human desires. Having said that, if those desires were controlled by the thrall of a big, ugly, nasty and altogether unpleasant demon, well, that's of the good. And anything that leads to Quentin getting a whupping is OK by me :)
I like the idea of a "Scary Veiny Willow", who whilst exhibiting the whole SVW look is actually in control of the power. Having said that, a lot of the power Willow was using at the end of S6 was "stolen power", from Giles and presumably from Rack. So maybe to get that level of power again, she could be channeling the coven, much as Giles used their power to teleport and to "dose" Willow.
Hellmouth stuff sounds like fun. And it's about Time Dawn's key-ness came into focus.
In fact there'sonly one thing about this I really, really don't like. That's the whole Xander/Anya arc. I can see reconciliation possibly by the end of the season, but I thought one of the original ideas was that we were to remain ship-free as far as possible. I particularly dislike the whole pregnancy thing, I feel that with AtS taking the route it has, we've had quite enough of pregnancy in the Joss-verse. Plus it seems a bit unfeasible that a couple who split up because they had different ideas about commitment, with one half of the couple not being prepared to get married and the other too eager to do the same, would have a child together eighteen months later, having spent most of that intervening 18 months not being together. And babies are a pain in the butt, plot wise. Plus, the calling the baby "Dawn" thing? It seems too sacchariny. I can imagine Xander wanting to make that gesture but not Anya. I don't see her wanting to name her child after someone who stole things from her shop... (she's still materialistic, I guess...).
I'm in two minds about the Magic Box coming back into business, but it was a good base of operations, so it does have its merits. Having said that, I'm in favour of making Anya recurring rather than regular and bringing the focus much more back to the three core Scoobies and Giles. Faith could be recurring rather than regular for a lot of the same reasons as I stated for Anya in my post on her... she's a great character who could be wasted by hanging about in the background doing nothing. Better maybe to bring her into focus when she is there and have her doing stuff "elsewhere" otherwise. That way she stays special and we appreciate her more. I mean, how excited are a lot of people that she's coming back for a few episodes? And how much would we take her for granted by now if she'd stayed around since s3?
Just my thoughts... maybe some of them can be thrown into the pot?
