I too have difficulty with the notion that the spread of Awakening is somehow the palliative for all that horror we all know is the condition of the world. It can't happen fast enough, for one thing. The daily news, however, is another matter. Don't trust those sources! It's a slightly more sophisticated version of soap operas! Have you read Morris Berman's recent book about the decline of Western Civilization? (At the moment the title escapes me.) It makes certain things very clear. In some ways, there is no hope! We are on a trajectory that will play itself out. It has tremendous momentum. This is all true, and yet, I have hope, because the news is fucking lies. They do not ever tell the whole story. Even "good journalism" is suspect and incomplete. Being is HERE. Evolution includes the human spirit. That is far from bankrupt! Your very despair is precious! And evolutionarily profound! When I first encountered Saniel's work, I looked askance at the stuff about the Next Whatever and how this would change matter and all that. I felt that there were some very rude awakenings in store, and I was not wrong about that! I felt that that stuff was far more naive than all the rest of it, and it made me sad. But WHEN WE FEEL all that horror and awfullness that is the current state of the world, ONLY THEN is there any hope of creating true change. It may be too slow, we may kill ourselves off (but I don't think we will). We can't know all the possibilities, and in any case, this Being Here is truly the only hope we have! So why not go for it? I wish you and I could sit ouselves down and talk this through for however long it takes. In the meantime, may I share a little hope with you? Even if we humans kill ourselves and the entire biosphere off, this Earth will generate new lifeforms, maybe from the genetic mnaterial in the tundra, or something like that. And we, as Consciousness, will be there, AS that regeneration, able to flow into whatever happens with a new expression of this beautiful Marriage of the Divine with the Finite, the Absolute with the Particular, the Unchanging with that which
Is Change. I do hear your pain. I share it, in spades. And, I have hope. I will be waiting for your answer to this, and holding you in your despair and loving you for it!
