The dread and despair you speak of - yes, these can have a downward suck to them that is more bewildering than pure exhaustion. When those guys crop up, I find myself sort of falling over (if I'm on the couch and alone), closing my eyes, and allowing time to come to a stop, so as to grant complete being to such zones. It's not a pretty sight....

I recently inherited an old wind-up hanging clock from my granny - a real beauty. After hanging it this weekend, I wound it up, and discovered the tick to be too severe for my quiet-loving ears. So I let the spring wind down, and now it's still, as I just enjoy the beauty of the clock itself.

This morning I saw the clock as a beautiful reminder of time stopping.
