There are some interesting comments here about Mr Bird. Firstly before I start I am not a Croydon athletic supporter so I don't care about politics of the club.
1st point Hayden not having coaching ability, well he did alright in the Ryman 3rd division. Is the suggestion you don't need ability just money at a lower level?. This is clearly not the case and I speak from experience of managing/coaching albeit at a lower level than Ryman 3. There coaching ability is funadamental to success as is man management skills motivation etc. I believe Hayden has some skill in the area but maybe not a broad enough range.
2nd point Hayden has not played the game. Well easy enough to refute as otherwise all the world cup winners would be great managers. Ball,B.Charlton, Hurst, Stiles blow that one away. He doesn't have to be Maradona to be a great manager.
There are clearly issues at the club which need to be resolved and perhaps some are coaching and some are motivation but clearly some players did not perform.
You don't become bad overnight but maybe Hayden has a little too much faith in his own ability.
IMHO Waite is a class act for Croydon but little else at the club inspires me. The new season won't be long and this independent site has really raised Croydon athletics profile
