I'd just like to ask a few questions: is there, to your knowledge, a php script or a forum you can sign up for that offers a tiered format similar to newsgroups (ie, you can open/close the sub-threads you want to read)? I find the Voy forum extremely uncomfortable to read and gets confusing, so if that's the only thing available, unfortunately that would be a big no to tiered.

And what kind of "discussion" would you suggest go into chat? When discussing badfic (even though it does go off topic sometimes) it's nice that everyone can have their say, in their own time. I don't see how people from all over the world (I'm in Europe, other posters are in Australia) would be able to participate if all the discussion of badfic happened in chat. A chatroom, if used for discussing what we used to discuss on the board, could fragment the community, IMHO. It would also irritating for lurkers, if they didn't have access to the entire chat's content afterwards. I'm sure some people lurking take a lot of pleasure out of some active members' quips and moments of insanity. I'd personally hate to miss that for the sake of organisation, at any rate.

Basically, I was happy with the sequential board, I'd be happy with a tiered one as long as it's more flexible than this one, but for me "discussion only in chatroom" doesn't look good. And I'd think that it would be good to have a board "alive" even if there is a site (unfortunately I never saw the original site). I know, I'm not giving any definite answer/vote, just a lot of maybes. ;)
