Exactly. Were it not for the fact that Figwit is (apparently, to some people, not to me) "hot", he would have almost no fanbase, I suspect. But he's seen firstly as sexy, and secondly as an Elf--it's like another Legolas.

Because, otherwise, there'd be no one who cared to read the story, save a few fans interested in the Council of Elrond and related events, as seen through the eyes of someone who was a lower level member of the council. And because he is sexy. <sigh>
