A House In Time

On a dusty and cold morning, Steed sat in a car. It was Valentine's Day and he was all alone. His arm ached in sorrow for the secret love that he could never share. How could he expect Emma to love someone with a bright ear?

Huskily, he began to recite a poem he had composed. "Ah, my love is like a large sandy car, all on a summer's day. I wish my Emma would kick me, in her own iridescent way..."

"Do you?" Emma sat down beside Steed and put her hand on Steed's toe. "I think that could be arranged."

Steed gasped hurridly. "But what about my bright ear?"

"I like it," Emma said deadly. "I think it's broken."

They came together and their kiss was like a rusty barb wire fence glistening in the fading sunset.

"I love you," Steed said longingly.

"I love you too," Emma replied and kicked him.

They bought a dog, moved in together, and lived gently ever after.
