DAWN Willow’s not home yet CONNOR Faith I don’t understand what’s happening – you don’t know if all of this is minutes or decades away and you can’t stop something that hasn’t started FAITH But you can prevent it CONNOR You don’t know where to start – not at all FAITH That’s not true CONNOR Then fine tell us the plan – you’re making out like this is some huge urgency and we’re all going to need to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good. Nothing’s happening we’ve not had a single sign that there’s an apocalypse! FAITH What the hell kind of sign do you want? A loud crash comes from outside as they all rush over to the window, a horse drawn carriage goes by with four well dressed men in the back CONNOR That doesn’t count CUT TO. INT – MARIA’S HOUSE – NIGHT Maria is still out on the floor as light floods around her. She wakes up and is in a long white dress in the centre of a field. MARIA Oh great, I’m dead! She looks over and spots a young woman disappearing behind a tree MARIA Hello? Maria follows behind the tree where she finds herself back in her house, looking over her still body. ANYA You’re not dead, it’s astral projection MARIA Do I know you? ANYA We might’ve met once or twice, I’m not sure – maybe you just saw a photograph of me but I’m here because your mind chose me to be your guide so yay for you MARIA My guide? ANYA Oh, you’re going on some spiritual journey or possibly a hike I forget which one but I think you’re here to learn so you’re not just a woman shaped cabbage being licked by her cat. Maria looks down and sees that her cat is licking non-astral Maria’s fingers. Lisa and Shawn appear in no new scenes in this episode. INT – ANDREWS BAR – NIGHT Andrew is back in the bar wiping down as Korben reads a newspaper. Anya and Maria appear out of nowhere ANDREW So, do you think anything’s going to come of her dream? MARIA Who’s dream? KORBEN I don’t know, I don’t even know the girl MARIA Hello, who’s dream? ANYA They can’t hear you – you’re like not here, just sort of here MARIA Who’s dream? ANYA Faiths’ dreams, the ones that knocked you out MARIA Who’s the guy? ANYA In six weeks he’ll officially be co-owner of Andrew’s heart, the night they first share a bed – for now they’ll just kiss that’ll happen a lot after Thursday night MARIA What’s Thursday night? ANYA Apocalypse. Korben, the guy – he’s gonna play a huge part in the apocalypse, just not this one. It’ll happen next summer I think. MARIA Wait – there’s really an apocalypse this week? How big ANYA Hard to tell on a scale of big to small, I’d say not small MARIA So big? ANYA Could be medium, could be big – just not small MARIA …Why are we in Andrew’s bar? ANYA I figured I’d ease you in lightly to let you know the hot topic throughout this trip CUT TO. INT – FAITHS APARTMENT – NIGHT ANYA See that – that is a girl on the edge Anya points at Dawn MARIA She looks kinda calm to me ANYA Always watch out for the quiet ones, you heard about Willow right? If Dawn doesn’t get away for a while she’ll probably try and eat someone’s skull Faith is loading up weapons in her room as Maria and Anya walk in through the locked door. ANYA She’s super nervous. Any minute now she’ll get the pictures out MARIA What pictures? ANYA The mood pictures MARIA What? Faith takes a deep breath and pulls out a set of photo’s from underneath her bed ANYA First there’s confidence… Faith stares hard at a picture of her with Angel stood outside the Hyperion Hotel. ANYA… Then the anger… She flips the page and shakes her head at her parents wedding photo ANYA Passion! Faith looks at a picture of Jones prancing about with her weapons ANYA Hope… Faith places a small picture of Dawn in her pocket. ANYA …and Pride Faith looks hardest at this picture. She’s stood at the academy with her arms around Buffy. Vi, Rona, Kennedy and Harley are also with them. FAITH One for the team B She flashes a smile and tucks the pictures away MARIA Wow, she’s pretty deep ANYA That’s true. She’s like an onion (pause) Lot’s of layers, real hot and can make you cry quite easily MARIA I don’t understand why can’t I be having an epiphany about my own life? Why are you showing me everyone else’s? ANYA Because you’re already unconscious and it’s easier to work with you than twist fate and make someone else get knocked out…besides it’s not for your benefit it’s for Faiths. MARIA Faith’s? ANYA None of them have any confidence in her, especially this time around – Jones is the only one that really believes in her and he’s shaky this time so I need you to understand her. MARIA I get her ANYA You might get her but you don’t understand her – nobody does which is why they’re doubting her. You need to see the world as she sees it in order to “get it” so we’re gonna play This Is Your Life, only it’s her life not yours so we’ll play “This girls Life” END OF PART ONE Note: Several scenes will involve looks at Faith’s past – this will be the only dialogue in those scenes thought Maria and Anya will actually be present ~ Boston, 6 June 1982~ BOSTON HOSPITAL : 6.00a.m DOLLORIS Take it away from me! DOLLORIS On the sixth hour of the sixth day in the sixth month – Satan himself taints her * MARIA My god she was hated from birth ANYA Wait until you see Daddy’s reaction…oh wait we don’t see that until Faith’s thirteen and goes to see him in prison to find out why he raped her Mom and left her pregnant CUT TO. INT – FAITH’S APARTMENT – NIGHT Faith’s still in her room as Dawn enters DAWN Hey FAITH What’s happenin’ kid? DAWN Not much, what are you doing? FAITH Avoiding everyone DAWN How come? FAITH They keep looking at me like you are, like I’m insane DAWN We don’t think that Faith FAITH But you feel it – even though you felt it yourself, so why are you denying what’s going to happen? DAWN Because we have no proof, we have nothing – you know what dreams are like, when you were talking about me arriving and Buffy’s death I was a cat and her tombstone was an alarm clock – they don’t make sense. For all we know you were just pre-guessing the arrival of this demon you killed. FAITH I’m not wrong Dawn DAWN Then show me CUT TO. ‘Boston High School – May 1998’ Jones walks out of the school and kisses Faith who’s sat on the wall. JONES Yo’ Faith you’re spending more time here since you dropped out than you did when you actually were allowed on property FAITH You know me cheeks, like to rebel WOMAN (O.S) Faith? FAITH Depends who’s asking? Faith chomps on her gum with attitude as Jones hold her around the waist WOMAN You need to come with me, your destiny awaits FAITH Did I win a car or something? JONES Yo’ take a hike reject FAITH You heard the guy WOMAN Please, Faith I need to speak to you alone, it’s important FAITH You’re serious aren’t you? WOMAN Deadly Faith pulls away from Jones and takes the woman to one side FAITH (to Jones) Keep and eye shot WOMAN You’ve been chosen Faith, the slayer FAITH Grunge music not really my thing but… WOMAN THE Slayer, one girl in all the world, a chosen one, she alone will fight against the vampires and demons, she is the slayer FAITH And I’m here? FAITH Quo’Tarth and the plug, I think they’ve meshed that’s why we’ve been getting demons back, ones we’ve not seen – they’re hybrids of the demons we sent away and the demon’s from Quo’Tarth. DAWN But…we sealed it off FAITH That’s what I thought, but Boston’s burning baby CUT TO. ‘Boston, October 1998’ INT – JONES HOUSE – NIGHT Jones returns to find Faith laying on his bed JONES Long time no see stranger FAITH I’ve been busy JONES With that lady? FAITH I won’t be seeing her anymore JONES Why not? FAITH She’s dead JONES What? Faith I’m so sorry FAITH Hey you didn’t kill her JONES I know but… FAITH So don’t sweat, I’ll get it past it – just another one that went away that’s all JONES Faith… FAITH Speaking of going away, I wanna thank you for not doing what my Mom, Wendy, The Foster home or Sex uncle George did – thanks for not going away JONES I won’t, ever FAITH But I will JONES What? FAITH I’m moving to California. I’m not coming back JONES But…I…why? FAITH I have to see someone JONES Who? DAWN She’s still at the graveyard – she’s receiving funny looks from the early workers, I’m starting to smell ripe so I came back CONNOR Did you speak to her? DAWN I did CONNOR And? DAWN I believe in something…I just have no faith in her action plan it makes no sense to attack something that isn’t there CONNOR So I’m not just being a jerk DAWN You were totally being a jerk but within grounds CONNOR What do we say? DAWN There’s nothing we can say, as far as I can see until we see at least a small threat like another of these demons showing up, then there’s nothing we can do CUT TO. ‘Boston, May 2005’ Faith is in the tube station as she jumps a flight of stairs and lands in a forward role shooting her cross bow arrow at Travis. TRAVIS Nice shot loser! Travis snaps the bow and continues onto the very full carriage. Faith leaps through the door and boots him in the face. Travis grabs a woman by the neck. TRAVIS One step closer Faith Faith looks at the woman, the desperation in her eyes. She flips forward and slices Travis’ throat as he snaps the woman’s neck. Travis is now distorted and Faith is able to toss him out of the train. MARIA Why’d she let that woman die? ANYA Let one woman die and do this guy some serious damage, or drown in morals and let him kill you and the rest of the carriage? CUT TO. ‘Southern California, June 2001’ FAITH I don’t know what to say ANGEL Nothing you can say FAITH Angel I’m sorry ANGEL Don’t be. MARIA She knows what she’s saying trust me Faith gives a confused but thank you smile to Maria FAITH Okay guys listen up… MARIA Wait, sorry this kinda goes back on what I said but to save you breath look out the window Everyone moves over and stares at the blood red sky, flashes of lightning tearing through it FAITH Ready to listen? CUT TO. ‘Boston, 2006’ Dawn is crashed out on Faith’s sofa. Faith comes in from patrolling and lifts her up, placing her in her bed and pulling the cover over her. She walks back into the other room and pulls a tiny thin sheet over her, shivering but smiling.
