Looking through the manual, there is an accessible switch on the left side of the bike. Down by the left foot rest. You will need to remove the chrome cover over the water pump and clutch slave cylinder. Then you will see the plastic assembly almost immediately in line with the foot rest.. There is a covered wire pair there. Looks like its a black wire as its BK on the Diagram. Shorting this wire to ground should turn on the OD light. If it does with the ignition on (may need the engine running)then the switch is at fault.. If it doesnt turn on then you may need to trace the wire up as far as you can.
Im not sure just yet how serviceable the switch is but no doubt someone has some more info..
