Subject: Ever looked at how many goals England have conceded at tournaments since Pickford was in goal? It’s quite a low number for someone who makes all the defenders jittery and anxious. I think stones/maguire/pickford went about 6 games without conceding a goal in tournament football at one point. The stats don’t lie, he’s been a really good keeper for England and nobody is knocking on the door to replace him.
In reply to: G 's message, "He's got a rep as a shot-stopper because he's jittery, makes defenders feel anxious and so we concede more shots. Compare him to Leno, who exudes calm. Pickford makes Hollywood saves, but a calmer more composed keeper who gave his defenders confidence wouldn't have to pull off so many saves. In the modern game, top keepers have a greater role to play in just bringing calm and composure to a defence. Pickford doesn't do that. England is crying out for a top keeper and has been for years." on Friday, November 15, 09:22:06am

  • He was brilliant last night. I have to admit I'm not a fan. He gives me the jitters, let alone his defenders. The truth is, there are no real alternatives yet. -- CB, Friday, November 15, 01:01:15pm (216-213-134-116.customer.gigaclear.net/216.213.134.116)
