Subject: It was around that time that there was a flurry of pitch invasions including the one at Forest when Billy Sharp was headbutted by a fan on the pitch. That led to the new dictate of strict adherence to existing regulations. From July 2022 the authorities decreed that mandatory bans plus prosecutions would be the default response. The Football Supporters Assoc fully backed this stance. I’d Imagine any club that openly flouts that dictate would get into a lot of trouble itself.
In reply to: G 's message, ""The great majority of us know not to enter the pitch." Do we? Tell that to the hundreds (thousands?) who ran on the pitch (twice!) at the end of the last Championship promotion season..." on Wednesday, November 20, 05:46:45pm

  • Well 24930 didn't. Your example - end of the season, end of game. The club kind of expect it. Like others on this site, I was at the Baseball Ground in 83. That wasn't a great experience, and it was infuriating to see Robert Wilson get kicked by a Derby Fan. This obviously is not comparable to what the fella did at the Brentford game, as he showed only joy and no mallice, but it is perhaps an example why no supporters should be on the pitch whilst the game is still in play. • I take your point, but you've sort of made mine for me. So the club is ok with pitch invasions if they "expect them"? The problem is an "unexpected pitch invasion"? We both know the banning of this fan is a nonsense. Don't be disingenuous. (NT) -- G, Thursday, November 21, 09:00:05am (NoHost/90.213.242.75)
