Subject: Deja vu

Thought we looked leggy in the first 20 mins, maybe a hangover from Boxing Day at the Dog Track. They are a good pressing team and street wise. At that point I would have taken a draw. I thought Wilson grew in the game, Lukic kept the passing ticking over and does a lot of hard work people don’t see. Perreira gave the ball away again and again. Thought he was poor. Adama does less and less when he comes on, .does not have a reverse gear and TC had a great cameo. But as Silva said in the post match interview we need to be more clinical and learn from our mistakes, mistakes we keep making.

It really was a game of Deja Vu. So much of today we have seen before. A failure to kill off teams. Andersen done again with a simple ball over the top, Diop gifting a late goal with loose passing – he has been our best defender but like Tosin, he needs to know his limitations. He needs to be more conservative with 4 mins left on the clock.

Again we concede just after half time. How many goals is that now from the 45-55 min? Then with Silva using his subs well – maybe not Adama (I would have had King on instead first) – we give up a another goal in the last five mins. How many points have we dropped in the closing stages of a game. As I said we don’t seem to be learning our lessons and appear destined to make the same mistakes again and again. I will settle for 2-2 but we should have killed them off with a third.

One Loss in the last ten – from a total of 30 points we have won 17 points and are unbeaten in 7. Overall great progress but just think where we would be if could eliminate the recurring errors. If we are serious about Europe then we need to beat Ispwich and like the Cherries it will be a scrap.
