Subject: But Mitro forced a sale - so he went. We had Raul in through the door already but though not the same player has had a similar sort of overall impact on the team. - not always possible to get an identical clone of a departed player - you have to deal with what you can get and what you can afford - and based on results date we have done that pretty successfully
In reply to: Hg 's message, "Mitro offered more than just goals though. His defence clearances from corners at set pieces was nearly enough to select him alone. He was a phenomenal asset to have in your own box. Plus mitro would have got even better due to his age" on Thursday, January 09, 06:18:32pm

  • I don't think we can know if Mitro would have gotten better, stayed the same or have peaked. As to defensive contribution, Raul is known for his work on the press, so it's win some lose some there (i.e. set pieces vs open play defense). Stats are mixed: Tackles Won/90: Mitro 0.31, Raul 0.81; Blocks/90: Mitro 0.99, Raul 0.74; Interceptions: Mitro 0.13, Raul 0.44; Clearances: Mitro 0.9, Raul 0.59. Overall, because he's better at retaining possession, I think Raul wins on defensive contribution.
