Subject: I can't remember a match i was more irritated by in my life.

No 'sense of injustice', no blaming the officials (thought the refereeing performance was about the best i've seen in years) this was a defeat entirely of our own making. What i did notice was that the calamity of the 2 goals (and the middle one wasn't much better) aside, i was just getting irritated by loads of little things as the match went on.

- Robinsons succession of momentum breaking, silly little fouls at 3-2. All caused by just going into the back of players who were obviously going to go to ground. Absolutely braindead. He wasn't alone, by the way, we conceded a stack of these.
- Castagne passing the ball down the line 'too tight' and several going straight out.
- Hospital balls (cheers Leno). Punished for a couple, but there were another half a dozen that were not quite punished or that we got away with.
- Lack of urgency. Summed up when Andersen inexplicably went back to Leno in the dying seconds instead of banging it long, only for the ref to blow up before we'd short passed our way to the half-way line.

This is up there with the famous burnley away game. We've contrived to lose to an average, injury ravaged team, who created one single opportunity themselves over 90 minutes, because of complete indiscipline, and players getting far too casual. Every mistake, every issue yesterday - the goals conceded, the bad decision making in the final 3rd, was down to players being far too casual and comfortable. I thought it was also concerning how our heads completely went for 5 minutes after the Perreira gaffe.

There's tough ones to take - this wasn't that. This just made me angry.

On the Robinson point, I agree to a certain extent, but 90% of those fouls were against Paqueta who is a cheat. Always thought he was, always hated him for it, it's just not how football should be played. It was a tough watch for all the reasons you've said. I don't get the anger with ESR at all. - Your excuse for Robinson makes it even more unforgiveable to me. If its a player who you know is going to throw himself to the floor at the first opportunity, why on earth would you charge into the back of him. You can't tell me any of them were given without obvious contact. It was completely braindead (and, like i say, he wasnt alone - i just highlighted him, because he was the one who did 3, in quick succession, at a crucial point.   - It’s tricky v Paqueta, he’s smart, he’s a big powerful player, sometimes he’ll take the contact and he won a lot in the air against our CBs, other times he rolls around after the slightest contact. Robbo’s success is built on his aggressive nature, getting in to the face of saka/salah etc, winning ball in transition when they’re not set, higher risk and won’t always get it right.       - Not excuses, just why he was doing it, it was a clear effort to try and inject urgency, which was far more an issue than giving away a couple of fouls, if the other players showed that urgency and aggression from earlier on we’d have been in a better place. Won’t always get it right, but I don’t see it as brain dead because the rationale is there to do what the team needed.         Yeh fair, overall I share your sentiments though, absolute hair pulling type game, still, that seems to be the norm for us v West Ham, all the moments seem to go their way and despite them seemingly being a poor team we find a way to not win. - Well Wilson is regular compared to the minutes hes had and he'd buy that one that hit the crossbar 95 times out of a 100. Raul header, not a great chance, can't think of many more. The best chance was Lukic's near the end, but he's far from a goalscorer anyway. - Waterboy I know this is the same thing every single time, but how can you watch last night and think, we need scorers. You can’t concede 3 away from home, 2 absolutely give away snd the other not much better, and think yeh we need to score more. We middle of the pack for goals scored, last night was a mental issue, lack of concentration, urgency, focus. We spread the goals out fine, Wilson, Iwobi, Raul will all end up with 7/8+. Agree it was maddening. We do have these matches in us under Silva. Wolves away last season was similar - injuries, poor form, we looked completely comfortable and somehow contrived to lose.
